Mission

Filling the gaps in american maternity care

We're mothers too

We know firsthand that it takes a village. Because, we've been there. We know the excitement, the thrill, the worry, the fear, the wonder, and the overwhelm that pregnancy and the postpartum transition can bring. Whatever your path is, we stand by you. We believe that women and all birthing people deserve evidence based, judgement free, full circle support. That means we will be there for you and your partner no matter what your journey of birth and postpartum looks like. We are here to lift you up and help you create an extensive safety net of knowledge, resources, love, and caring. Our mission is to leave you informed, empowered, and confident in your ability to move through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum transition.

Evidence Based Care

At Matriarch Doula Care, we believe all birthing people deserve accurate, up to date, evidence based care. We keep ourselves up to date on the most recent evidence in the field. That way, we may support our families in making informed decisions regarding their birth and postpartum periods.

Woman Centered Care

We believe mothers and all birthing people should remain fully autonomous in their birthing experience. We believe that the role of the doula, doctor/midwife, and nurses is to form a circle of support and information that creates the platform for birthing people to make informed decisions and have a low intervention birth experiences.

Intersectional Approach

Matriarch believes that every family deserves to be met with the same level of care and support regardless of race, gender identity, age, ability, religion, or sexual orientation. We keep ourselves informed and vigilant around the ways the racism, classism, sexism, and gender discrimination affect birthing outcomes throughout the U.S. in order to help our families remain safe as they birth.

Collaborative Care

We believe in the power of partnership! Mia and Shannon combine our efforts into every family that comes into Matriarch. We collaborate to give our mothers both our knowledge, expertise, and care.
