Postpartum Doula Care

The missing link in american maternity care

For centuries the birth of a new baby was considered a communal event. Still today, many cultures practice rituals that provide support and care for new mothers. Around the world, a mothers "lying in period" is honored by having household responsibilities alleviated so that she may take the time she needs to rest, recover from birth, and figure out this new little being. In America today, mothers are seldom given the rest, recuperation, and support they deserve. We are expected to move through day to day responsibilities while learning myriads of new skills on little to no sleep. Just thinking about it is overwhelming!

This lack of community is where your postpartum doula steps in; for parents to rest and recharge. We nurture you so you can nurture your new baby. On top of helping you rest or get a much needed bath; your postpartum doula is there to help you navigate the new worlds of breastfeeding, baby-wearing, and all things newborn care.

What will your postpartum doula do exactly?

Our favorite question is "What do you need right now?"

Our mission is to leave you feeling on top of the world (or at least this whole parenting thing). Your priorities are our priorities...
